Ladies and gentlemen, I have redesigned the Toronto Raptors. I am making good on my summer goal of redesigning/branding at least 2 sports teams with heinous logos and looks. No reason sports shouldn’t be graphically sound and good looking, right? This is a start at least, typography is not my strong suit so I am sure to revisit that damn wordmark and I might attack the uniforms to match. Maybe even go so far as to create team collateral, ads and signage and whatnot. I am really digging the logo though, it’s a rarity that I actually impress myself :) All in all, I have accomplished most of what I wanted out of this; experience in creating some sports material, conveying an original idea, getting my “Illustrator Flow” back, and adding a piece to my portfolio that has some relevance to what I want to do with my life. I am sad however that I couldn’t get the purple in there. I honestly like purple as their accent color but as I saw the direction I was going in, the color just wasn’t gonna find its way back. Putting this in my win column. Btw, here’s the original Raptors logo for the unaware:
