Mad Men Opening Credit Redesign

A Mad Men intro as effervescent as champers?

Well, it doesn’t suit Don Draper’s drowning in Old Fashioneds, Betty’s kept suburban housewife boredom, and the cultural malaise that’s really the root of the entire show, but what better way to highlight that than by contradicting it? It’s like “Born in the U.S.A.”!

Pasadena illustrator Paul Rogers redesigned the opening credits and set them to a slinky, shagtastic ’60s song for allll the hep cats, saying:

I’ve been thinking about adding some motion pieces to my portfolio and here’s the first one, a re-design of the opening credits for Mad Men. I enjoy the show, but the titles have bugged me from the start. It seems to me that they missed an opportunity for a good update of classic film and television titles from the early 1960s.

Damn, I need to get back into After Effects like yesterday.

Avatar Hey, I'm Colleen. I am a graphic designer, musician, and sports nut. I enjoy art, music, the New York skyline, Pixar, Sports Illustrated covers, baseball stadiums and discussing animation techniques although no one ever seems to want to talk with me.

I also have a portfolio!
